TVL x NCAD Mentorship 2021: Olwen Kelly

We are delighted to award the inaugural TVL X NCAD Mentorship to visual artist Olwen Kelly.

Both Steve Macleod and Kate O’Neill are very excited to tailor this professional development support to Olwen and her practise and provide advice during the last crucial few months study, degree show and then the vitally important first few months as a graduate.

Informed by ancient Irish archaeology, social history and contemporary pop culture, Olwen works with a variety of materials both manmade and natural to create highly tactile pieces which are both texturally varied and tonally rich. She works with a diverse range of media to create her pieces, including found objects and up cycled or recycled materials. In 2020 Olwen was awarded the Global Undergraduate Award for the Island of Ireland for her installation ‘Stigmata’, which explored the topic of institutional abuse in Letterfrack Industrial School.
